EMR:

SOS utilizes a unique service to enhance its connection with patients and other care providers: Allscripts Electronic Health Records (EHR). By using Allscripts, your physician can receive updates automatically, everything from a clerical change in your information to vitals—all in real time. They can also keep track of and prescribe treatments, even if they are out of the office. No more hearing about how someone misplaced your chart or that the doctor isn’t available—those important decisions regarding your health can be made effectively and with confidence when your patient chart can be called up in a matter of seconds. After the diagnostic process is complete, the team at Syracuse Orthopedic Specialists will lay out all your treatment options - surgical and non-surgical. In fact, many patients who consult with an SOS specialist do not need surgery.

MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging):

SOS owns three advanced magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) machines that help our Orthopedic doctors NYC diagnose and treat medical conditions. MRI’s are ordered when certain diagnosis’ may not be assessed adequately with other imaging methods such as an x-ray, ultrasound or computed tomography (CT or CAT scanning). MR imaging uses a powerful magnetic field, radiowaves and a computer to produce detailed pictures of soft tissues, bones and virtually all other internal body structures. Sometimes an injection is performed with contrast which will give more detail for some types of studies. These images are read and interpreted by on-site, board certified radiologists at SOS in a timely fashion and images can be examined on a computer monitor or copied to a CD. MRI is a non-invasive procedure and does not use ionizing radiation (x-rays).
